Abstract:
The efficacy of an instructional medium is contingent upon the ability of educators, administrators, teachers, and users in terms of how well they integrate and apply it into their daily lives. In other words, for a language to be useful for learning, its users and its language must be harmonized. These kind of problems arise while creating a language policy, which is something that can only be accomplished with expert and methodical efforts toward learning and educational improvement. The study will focus on the challenges faced by the language in the current curriculum, its status as a medium of instruction, and the state of Filipino usage graduating students. The paper uses a quantitative research design, involving the distribution of questionnaires to participants. After a thorough investigation it revealed that Filipino language is well-integrated into Cebu Normal University’s curriculum. Across all programs, language instruction remains a fundamental component of the curriculum. But it also confronts challenges to education because of CHED changes that have an impact on two colleges and three specific programs. Furthermore, students’ comprehension of language problems is inadequate and not fully addressed. According to alumni, Filipino is actively used in the aforementioned courses (BSEd Filipino, BA-Filipino, and BSEd Social Sciences); nonetheless, there is little assistance available for their industry-related personal and professional development.
