Consortia Academia is committed to making scholarly research openly accessible while maintaining affordable and sustainable publication practices. The publisher operates with a service-oriented, nonprofit objective, seeking to support the dissemination of academic knowledge rather than generate commercial profit from scholarly publications. All published articles are made freely accessible to readers without subscription charges. However, maintaining an open-access publishing platform involves operating expenses, including website infrastructure, manuscript preparation, editorial administration, publication formatting, digital preservation, DOI registration, and other services necessary for scholarly dissemination. To help meet these expenses, Consortia Academia relies on modest publication fees, voluntary contributions, and other available institutional or community support.
Publication Fees
Consortia Academia seeks to keep publication charges affordable, particularly for researchers working with limited institutional or research funding.
For authors based in the Philippines, the applicable amount for publication fees may vary depending on the journal, publication arrangement, and associated processing requirements. Authors will be informed of the applicable publication fee and any available waiver arrangements during the submission and publication process. Any required charges will be communicated before authors commit to publication.
At present, publication fees are generally waived for authors based outside the Philippines. This arrangement recognizes that international bank transfer charges and related transaction expenses may be disproportionate to the modest publication fees collected by the publisher. Consortia Academia may periodically review its fee arrangements to reflect changing operational requirements and financial circumstances. Any changes will be communicated through the publisher’s official publication information.
Publication Fee Waivers and Financial Assistance
Consortia Academia recognizes that financial circumstances should not create unnecessary barriers to scholarly participation. Authors who experience financial difficulties or have limited institutional or research support may request a partial or full waiver of publication fees. Waiver requests may be considered for independent researchers, students, early-career scholars, authors without institutional funding, and researchers facing other circumstances that may limit their ability to pay. Authors seeking a waiver are encouraged to contact the editorial office during the submission process, preferably before incurring any publication-related financial commitments. Requests should briefly explain the circumstances supporting the application. Requests will be considered individually, taking into account the author’s circumstances and the publisher’s available resources. Publication fees, requests for waivers, and authors’ financial circumstances do not influence manuscript evaluation, peer-review outcomes, or editorial decisions. All manuscripts remain subject to the same scholarly and ethical publication standards.
Voluntary Donations and Contributions
Consortia Academia welcomes voluntary contributions from individuals, institutions, researchers, and other supporters who share its commitment to accessible scholarly publishing and educational development. Donations are entirely voluntary and are separate from any applicable publication fees. Authors are not required to make additional donations as a condition of manuscript submission, acceptance, or publication. The decision to provide or decline a voluntary contribution does not affect editorial evaluation, publication eligibility, or any other scholarly consideration.
Use of Publication Fees and Financial Contributions
Revenue from publication fees and voluntary contributions is used to support the continuing operation and development of Consortia Academia’s scholarly publishing activities.
These resources help cover expenses associated with:
- Website hosting, maintenance, and digital infrastructure;
- Manuscript preparation, layout, and publication production;
- Editorial administration and publication coordination;
- Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registration and related services;
- Digital preservation, scholarly accessibility, and publication record maintenance; and
- Other reasonable expenses associated with maintaining accessible scholarly publications.
Where resources permit, funds remaining after necessary publishing expenses may also be directed toward educational assistance and initiatives supporting students and academic development.
Support for Undergraduate Education
Beyond scholarly publishing, Consortia Academia recognizes the importance of supporting access to education and providing opportunities for students facing financial challenges. As part of its educational support initiatives, Consortia Academia currently provides tuition assistance to two undergraduate students. This assistance reflects the publisher’s commitment to extending the benefits of its scholarly activities to educational development and student opportunities. Such assistance is provided according to the availability of resources and does not affect the independent academic evaluation of manuscripts submitted to Consortia Academia journals.
Editorial Independence and Financial Transparency
Consortia Academia maintains a clear distinction between financial arrangements and scholarly editorial decisions. Manuscript acceptance is determined by academic merit, originality, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, and relevance to the journal’s scope, rather than by an author’s ability or willingness to pay publication fees or provide donations. Payment of a publication fee does not guarantee manuscript acceptance, favorable peer-review recommendations, or exemption from editorial requirements. The publisher is committed to communicating its applicable charges, waiver opportunities, and financial policies clearly to prospective authors.
