Abstract:

This study was conducted to explore the role of the school community in addressing United Nations’ Social Development Goals. P.I.G.L.A.S. (Pinakbet Interactive Garden and Leisure Agritech Site) Integrated Farm was established as a community extension arm of Igama Colleges Foundation, Inc. (ICFI) focusing on corporate social responsibility. In the conduct of the study, the researchers utilized both the qualitative and the quantitative design or the mixed method design. The results gathered from the survey, one-on-one interview, and in-depth interview were interpreted and the following results were gathered. As to the change in the landscape of the town, the respondents from the municipal hall gave a positive feedback unofficially calling the farm as an “agro-tourism site.” For the questions on the livelihood, respondents from the community gave the 4.32 mean average score, indicating a positive change in their livelihood thru the TESDA programs sponsored by the farm. This was also reinforced by their verbatim comments which were constructed into themes. Responses from the students revealed that the site became their venue to showcase their artistic ability. In general, the establishment of PIGLAS addresses SDG 1: No poverty; SDG 2: Zero Hunger; SDG 3: Good Health and Well Being; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; SDG 13: Climate Action; SDG 15: Life on Land; and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
