Abstract:
Discussion about work-life balance gradually gaining attention in higher education institutions. This focus stems primarily from the growing awareness that overwork burden and lack of effective support systems may have negative effects on the well-being and productivity of academic personnel. The higher education environment has unique challenges including multifaceted pressures on academic research, teaching responsibilities, and administrative responsibilities. These requirements often lead to increased work intensity, seriously affecting the personal lives of the teaching staff. The work-life balance of academic personnel is not only related to their personal health and happiness, but also directly affects the ability of higher education institutions to attract and retain talents. However, most of the existing studies has focused on the private sector, lacking full exploration of the specific needs and challenges of university and college staff. In recent years, with increasing competition in education and increasing faculty pressure, scholars have begun to pay more attention to the workload and family policy issues specific to higher education. This study aimed to explore the complex relationship between work intensity, family support policy and work-life balance in higher education institutions. The main objective is to develop a comprehensive framework for providing policy advice and institutional reform for improving employee welfare. By examining the current work-life balance status of academic personnel, identifying key stressors, and assessing the effectiveness of existing family policies, this study aims to provide actionable insights to improving the well-being of employees in the academic field. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: Majority of the respondents affirmed that workload intensity was moderately required where temporal demands ranks highest.
