Abstract:
This study examined the impact of digitalization on records management practices of multi-purpose cooperatives. This study employed a sequential exploratory research design. An interview guide was used for the qualitative method, while a researcher-made questionnaire was used for the quantitative method. The respondents of this study were all the 42 employees of 15 registered and active multi-purpose cooperatives from the 4 municipalities in the province of Occidental Mindoro. The qualitative data was generated through the interview and underwent thematic analysis. For the quantitative, all data that were collected and classified were analyzed statistically. The findings reveal that the use of digital tools, including Microsoft programs, digital storage tools, and digital communication tools, impacts the records management practices of multi-purpose cooperatives. The moderate to high beta values, ranging from 0.245 to 0.654, indicate a relationship between the use of digitalization and all four components of the records management (record classification, document retention, data privacy, and disposition), showing that when the cooperative increases its utilization of digital tools, it also increases its ability to effectively manage its records. Thus, the multi-purpose cooperatives excel in records management, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and data security. Implementing a comprehensive intervention program to enhance digital adoption, strengthen digital literacy, and improve adaptability to technological changes can significantly enhance records management practices in multi-purpose cooperatives. This study recommends that the multi-purpose cooperative create advanced training and programs to improve efficiency in records management and foster a culture of digital literacy and adaptability. Multi-purpose cooperatives can refer to the intervention program developed by the researcher.
