Abstract:

The Strengthened Senior High School Program was developed by the Department of Education to support a more modern approach of learning under the revised curriculum. Its implementation aims to enhance students’ knowledge, skills and preparedness in Filipino subject. Beyond developing language proficiency, Filipino subject also promotes critical thinking and analytical abilities among learners. This study employed a descriptive-quantitative research design, which focuses on measuring and describing existing conditions without manipulating variables. The research was conducted at Zumarraga National High School, the participants were Grade 11 Senior High School students enrolled in the program. A questionnaire was used as the primary instrument, and the collected data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the Strengthened Senior High Program contributes significantly to the improvement of student’s skills in Filipino. The result also showed that most of the respondents held positive views of the program, reporting greater classroom participation and enhanced communication, reading and literary analysis skills. Overall, the study demonstrates that the implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School Program is effective in improving students’ academic performance in Filipino. The researcher recommends the continuous enhancement of academic programs as well as ongoing training and development opportunities for both teachers and students.
