Abstract:

The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist initiated Christianity in the Philippines, providing Filipinos with a foundation to commemorate five centuries of the faith’s presence and its reinforcement of people’s devotion to God. However, technological progress and societal modernization have led to notable transformations in various facets of Filipino Catholics’ lives, impacting their spiritual practices. This study aims to revisit the Baptismal and Eucharistic beliefs and practices of college students at Sta. Teresa College, Bauan, Batangas, to help strengthen their faith towards becoming fully developed faithful. The findings reveal that students hold strong Baptismal beliefs, as indicated by a high composite mean. However, their baptismal practices are observed to a moderate extent.  Similarly, another high composite mean reflects their strong Eucharistic beliefs, while a moderate composite mean indicates a moderate level of engagement in Eucharistic practices. The study concludes that students’ Baptismal and Eucharistic beliefs significantly influence their respective practices. Additionally, Catholic students face issues such as societal expectations and their behavior during Holy Mass. Addressing these issues through targeted religious education and community involvement can enhance the alignment of their beliefs and practices, fostering a more committed and spiritually mature Catholic student community.
