Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the level of digital technology integration among Filipino-American educators in the United States. It specifically identified the educators’ integration levels of digital technology as replacement, amplification, and transformation of their instructional practices. It also examined significant differences in integration levels—replacement, amplification, and transformation—based on gender, highest educational attainment, and years of teaching in the US. Sixty-four Filipino-American educators across the US were identified through convenience sampling as respondents to this study. Results indicated high replacement and amplification levels of educators’ instructional practices due to digital technology. These educators considered digital technology to have highly replaced their customary instructional practices as a digital alternative. They also considered digital technology to have amplified their practices by increasing the efficiency, effectiveness, or productivity of these practices. Results indicated a moderately high transformation. They considered digital technology to have moderately transformed their practices through the inventions of new instructions, learnings, or curricula. There was no significant difference in the levels of replacement, amplification, and transformation of instructional practices between male and female educators, among educators with different educational attainments, and educators with different years of teaching. Education in the United States provides easy access to technology that revolutionizes learning, not only by providing access to high-quality classroom experiences but by fostering innovative methods of teaching. This shift was exemplified by the respondents of this study.
