Abstract:
The integration of gamification techniques in education has become increasingly significant, aiming to enhance student engagement, motivation, and overall learning experiences. This study explored how gamification, particularly games emphasizing teamwork and collaboration, fostered connection and positive relationships among students. Drawing on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and Self-Determination Theory, the research highlighted that games encouraged effective communication, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging. The study, conducted with Grade 7 students at De La Salle University – Laguna Campus, employed qualitative methods to gather insights into students’ experiences with gamified learning in Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) exploratory courses, focusing on the theme of “connection.” Findings indicated that gamification not only strengthened peer relationships but also created a positive and dynamic classroom environment. The research concluded with recommendations for educators to integrate gamification into curricula, promote collaborative games, and focus on developing students’ emotional and social skills, ultimately fostering an engaging and inclusive educational experience.
