Abstract:
Despite various reforms and changes in Philippine society, violence remains widespread and deeply rooted in all corners of the country. Regardless of age—whether young or old—many Filipinos continue to experience forms of violence. It is evident that injustice persists, and while the poor continue to suffer, those in power often prevail. This study is a qualitative content analysis that aims to explore the outcry for justice in Philippine society through the literary work Siyap ng Isang Sisiw by Eugene Y. Evasco. The researcher examined the text’s elements, themes, characters, and symbolism to uncover how the work reflects the struggle for justice. Findings reveal that the literary piece highlights the persistent lack of justice and the difficulty in attaining it, which remains relevant in contemporary society. The work portrays a society where justice is elusive, especially for the marginalized and powerless. It mirrors the real-life experiences of many Filipinos who face a flawed justice system and worsening poverty. The piece underscores systemic inequality, where those in authority exploit their positions to oppress the vulnerable. These issues contribute to the ongoing cycle of abuse and hinder the true realization of justice. By examining the narrative of Siyap ng Isang Sisiw, this research emphasizes the need for societal change and a more equitable justice system. It reflects the voices of the silenced, calling for awareness and action toward a fairer and more compassionate society.
