Abstract:
This study analyzed the content of the pedagogical grammar in Cebuano-Visayan of Angel O Pesirla towards creating 4P’s Model in making a pedagogical book. It specifically analyzed the following structures: 1) phonology; 2) morphology; and 3) syntax. Anchored in the pedagogical theory of Resuma, Bourke, at Newby in analyzing the Cebuano-Visayan book of Pesirla [2012]. The findings of the study according to the criteria are not so communicative because it lacks the following concise, true, and comprehensive in the description of 1) phonology particularly in the vowels, point of articulation, point and ways of articulation, diphthongs, claster, stress, and emphasis; 2) morphology such as morphemic changes, affixation and sufficxation, and the parts of speech; 3) syntax like the rules of the subject and predicate, verbal and non-verbal sentences according to the sentence usage and structure; and the activities need to improve to make it communicative because it only focus on development of grammar and sociolinguistic. Based on the observation, it was proven that the pedagogical grammar book of Pesrila (2012) is not so much communicative as the analyzed pedagogical grammar. Because of this, the study created an enhanced pedagogical grammar in Cebuano-Visayan that features the following 4P’s phases: 1) pagpapakilala (introduction); 2) paglalahad (presentation); 3) pangkomunikatibong gawain (communicative activities); and 4) paglalagom (summary). The study recommends that the pedagogical grammar created will be used as a guide to improve conceptualizing reference books in Cebuano-Visayan language.
