Abstract:

The problem of enticing students to think and actively engage in teaching Filipino and their low level or proficiency in student writing skills is caused by the traditional teaching methods in the classroom. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the level of acceptance of the visual thinking strategy in teaching Filipino and the writing skills of film reviews. The descriptive-experimental research design method was used with fifty (50) students from the eighth grade of a public secondary school in the division of san pablo who needed improvement using the visual thinking strategy through the purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, it has been proven that the use of the visual thinking strategy was effective in improving the level of film review writing skills based on the format of summary, character commentary, cinematography, and overall lesson or message, and based on the mechanisms of correct use of punctuation, the correct spelling of words, correct use of capitalization, and correct use of words. to further deepen the study’s results and prove its effectiveness, the researcher suggests using various films and employing qualitative methods that utilize modern technology to stimulate interest and further enhance the ability to write a film review.
