Abstract:
This research endeavored to develop and implement Contextualized Lesson Exemplars (CLE) tailored for Filipino 10 students. Employing a developmental methodology, the study systematically designed instructional materials to address identified needs within the curriculum. Utilizing a descriptive method, data from a needs assessment were analyzed quantitatively using frequency, percentage, and rank, focusing on the topics of Filipino 10. The validation process employed mean analysis, assessing the efficacy of the developed CLE. The needs assessment revealed 11 topics, including grammar, requiring lesson exemplars. Drawing upon the IDEA Model and instructional design theory, the researcher formulated a modified 6I’s model for creating contextualized lesson exemplars. The validation of the CLE across dimensions—totality (kabuoan), content (nilalaman), and presentation (presentasyon)—reflected a high degree of effectiveness. The CLE demonstrated alignment with SMART criteria, employing effective teaching techniques, fostering originality and appreciation through activities, and integrating relatable experiences for learners. Notably, the presentation of CLE incorporated clear instructions, graphic organizers, diagrams, and concrete illustrations to enhance learner engagement. As a result, the research recommended the adoption of the contextualized 6I’s Lesson Exemplar by administrators within the Candon City Division and other educational institutions. Furthermore, it advocated for the professional development of Filipino 10 and other subject teachers through participation in training programs, workshops, seminars, and webinars to enhance their proficiency in creating Lesson Exemplars. This initiative aimed to facilitate deeper learner engagement by connecting educational content with students’ experiences, societal contexts, and cultural backgrounds.
