This study expounds lexical elaboration or lexilaboration of the Filipino language as a form of corpus planning. Since the study focuses in the discipline of computer studies, it centers on analyzing the process in the perspective of language planning in education. The discussion clarifies the connection of lexilaboration and translation as sub-processes of language planning in the view of improving learning in the field of computer studies. This springs on the belief that the Filipino language, as a common language in the Philippines, can be an effective medium in academic discourses and materials preparation in this field. Also, this study traces how the approaches in the elaboration of the Filipino language contribute in the bigger initiatives on lexilaboration and translation in the field. Foremost, it presents the praxis in lexilaboration in computer studies which provides the model approaches, methods, and techniques that can be adopted by students and academics in the pursuit of using the Filipino language for various purposes in this field.
