Focus and Scope

International Journal of Research Studies in Psychology (IJRSP) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in psychology and related behavioral and mental health sciences. The journal provides a platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to disseminate theoretically grounded, methodologically rigorous, and culturally relevant research that contributes to understanding human behavior, cognition, emotion, development, and well-being. IJRSP adopts an interdisciplinary and culturally inclusive approach, welcoming scholarship from diverse psychological perspectives, theoretical traditions, methodological approaches, and sociocultural contexts. The journal publishes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, including experimental studies, surveys, case studies, longitudinal investigations, intervention studies, action research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and conceptual and methodological contributions.

Aims and Objectives

IJRSP aims to advance psychological knowledge through scholarly collaboration and the publication of research addressing contemporary psychological issues. The journal encourages studies that explore psychological processes, individual and collective experiences, cultural influences, and evidence-based approaches to improving human well-being. Particular emphasis is placed on scholarship contributing to theoretical development, methodological innovation, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the understanding of psychological phenomena across diverse populations and cultural settings.

Areas of Interest

The journal welcomes contributions across a broad range of psychological disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • Clinical and Counseling Psychology
  • Developmental and Educational Psychology
  • Social and Cultural Psychology
  • Organizational and Occupational Psychology
  • Health and Community Psychology
  • Cognitive and Experimental Psychology
  • Personality and Positive Psychology
  • Family and Environmental Psychology
  • Psychometrics and Psychological Assessment
  • Digital Psychology, Human–Technology Interaction, and Artificial Intelligence
  • Indigenous, Cultural, and Cross-Cultural Psychology

Interdisciplinary research integrating psychological perspectives with education, healthcare, sociology, management, technology, and related fields is also encouraged, provided that the contributions remain substantively grounded in psychological theory, research, or practice.

Philippine Psychology, Language, and Cultural Scholarship

In recognition of the importance of linguistic diversity, cultural identity, and indigenous knowledge, IJRSP welcomes scholarly contributions written in English or Filipino, particularly studies addressing Philippine psychology, language, culture, identity, and lived experiences. The journal encourages research informed by Sikolohiyang Pilipino (Filipino Psychology), indigenous psychological perspectives, and culturally grounded approaches to understanding human behavior, interpersonal relationships, and community life. Areas of particular interest include Philippine cultural values, indigenous psychological concepts, language and identity, family and intergenerational relationships, community well-being, migration, and the psychological experiences of Filipino individuals and communities in local and international contexts.

To strengthen the international visibility and accessibility of Philippine scholarship, IJRSP provides opportunities for scholarly works written in Filipino to reach a broader international audience. Filipino-language manuscripts may include an English title, abstract, and keywords. These English-language elements are intended to facilitate international discoverability, improve accessibility to non-Filipino-speaking researchers, and support the inclusion and retrieval of published research through academic search engines and indexing services, subject to their respective coverage and selection policies. Through this initiative, IJRSP seeks to bridge local knowledge and international scholarship, promote culturally grounded psychological research, and provide a wider platform for Philippine researchers to contribute to global academic discussions without requiring them to abandon their national language.

Policy Basis for Filipino-Language Scholarship

IJRSP’s support for scholarly publications written in Filipino is consistent with Article XIV, Section 6 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which provides for the continuing development and use of Filipino, and Republic Act No. 7104, which established the Commission on the Filipino Language and supports the development, preservation, and promotion of Philippine languages. By providing a peer-reviewed and internationally accessible publication platform, IJRSP contributes to the advancement of Filipino as a language of academic inquiry and scholarly communication.

Publication Policy: Themed Special Issues Only

IJRSP currently accepts submissions exclusively through organized, themed special issues. Individual or unsolicited manuscript submissions are not accepted. Each proposed special issue should comprise 8 to 12 scholarly papers addressing a clearly defined and coherent research theme within the journal’s scope. Special issues may focus on established or emerging areas of psychology, interdisciplinary psychological research, culturally grounded investigations, or contemporary issues of regional and international significance. Proposals may be organized by academic institutions, research groups, professional associations, conference organizers, or collaborating scholars. Each proposal should identify a coherent research theme, its scholarly significance, and a guest editor or editorial team responsible for coordinating the collection. All manuscripts included in an approved special issue remain subject to editorial evaluation, peer review, and the journal’s publication standards. Approval of a special-issue proposal does not guarantee acceptance of individual manuscripts.

Researchers interested in proposing a themed special issue are invited to contact the editorial office at ijr.edu@gmail.com.
