Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Project Reading Engagement through Advanced Digitalization (Project R.E.A.D.) in improving the Filipino reading comprehension skills of forty-six (46) Grade 11 students. The study employed a pre-experimental research design, specifically the one-group pretest-posttest design, and analyzed the data using a paired-samples t-test. The findings revealed that the students’ reading comprehension in the pretest obtained a Mean Percentage Score (MPS) of 39%, described as Average Mastery, while the posttest recorded an MPS of 85.91%, described as Closely Approximating Mastery. The results further indicated a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores following the implementation of Project R.E.A.D., t (45) = 19.858, p < .001. Moreover, Cohen’s d = 2.928 demonstrated a very large effect size, indicating that the intervention had a substantial impact on improving the students’ Filipino reading comprehension. Therefore, Project R.E.A.D. proved to be an effective intervention for enhancing students’ reading comprehension skills in Filipino. The researchers recommend the continued integration of digital learning resources, interactive activities, and other innovative instructional strategies to further strengthen literacy development and learning outcomes.
