Abstract:

The study aimed to identify the significant activities, language used, and cultural aspects embodied in the Adivay Festival, utilizing a qualitative method with a descriptive design. The participants involved in the research included employees of the Benguet capitol, the Head Tourism Officer, as well as the coordinators and implementers of the festival. The main activities and themes of the Adivay Festival were found to be centered around the livelihood, products, traditions, and culture of the people in Benguet. It was observed that the festival serves as a platform for socialization and unity, showcasing products, celebrating culture, and expressing gratitude. The activities in the Adivay Festival notably reflect the culture of ‘binnadang’ or unity and the culture of Adivay or socialization. Based on the study’s findings, it was concluded that the festival’s activities and tasks mirror the concepts of socialization, unity, citizen products, culture, and gratitude. The festival serves as a means of introducing and reinforcing the cultural values of the people of Benguet, specifically ‘binnadang’ and Adivay. Furthermore, it was suggested to maintain and develop the important activities launched in the Adivay Festival in order to raise awareness of cultural and livelihood aspects among the youth and the citizens. Additionally, it was recommended to conduct further research on the festival to delve deeper into its importance and purpose.
