Performance analysis of BTVTED graduates in the licensure examination for teachers: Identifying weakness and strengthening academic program

Abstract:

This study evaluated the performance of Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) graduates from ISPSC Santiago Campus in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) over five years using a descriptive-correlational design to identify weaknesses and develop academic interventions. Findings revealed that most LET takers were recent graduates aged 21–23 from Food Service Management and Electronics Technology with GWA 1.76–2.00 who relied on self-review; passing rates were inconsistent, occasionally exceeding but often falling below the national passing rate average; graduates performed best in Major/Specialization (81.11) and weakest in General Education (mean = 79.33); profile variables showed no significant relationship with LET performance; and Review and Remediation Support was the most concerning internal factor (mean = 3.33). Based on these findings, the BTVTEd LET THRIVE Program (Targeted Holistic Review and Intervention for Visionary Tech-Voc Educators) was developed as an extension program proposal comprising structured campus-based review (SURE-LET), enhanced remediation system (REMAP), and academic mentoring support (RISE) to improve LET passing rates. The study recommends implementing structured review activities, prioritizing General Education remediation, aligning curriculum with LET competencies, and implementing the THRIVE Program to strengthen the BTVTEd academic program.
