Abstract:

This study examined the effect of a developed interactive module on the academic performance of Grade 7 students under the MATATAG Curriculum. It also determined the module’s level of acceptability based on the perceptions of teachers and students, as well as the teachers’ instructional performance in using the module during the teaching-learning process. The study addressed the limited research on interactive modules focused on classical literature, particularly Ibong Adarna, within the MATATAG Curriculum. A true experimental research design was employed. Through purposive sampling, sixty (60) Grade 7 students from Tampakan National High School were selected and assigned by draw lots to the experimental and control groups, with thirty (30) students in each group. Data were gathered using a module acceptability questionnaire, classroom observation checklist, and researcher-made 50-item pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and independent samples t-test. Findings revealed that the interactive module was rated “Highly Acceptable” by both teachers and students. Teachers’ instructional performance in utilizing the module was rated “Outstanding.” In terms of academic performance, the experimental group achieved a higher mean gain score than the control group. The independent samples t-test showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The study concluded that the interactive module is an effective instructional material for improving students’ academic performance, enhancing understanding of lessons, and encouraging active participation in the learning process.
