Abstract:
The research entitled “Factors Affecting Enrollment and Retention of Students at San Pascual National High School” aimed to identify the factors affecting the decision of students, as well as their parents to enroll in SPNHS. Moreover, the said study also aimed to identify the retention factors of students to complete their Junior High School in this institution. This study used quantitative design using a questionnaire survey as the main tool and quantitative design through a focus group discussion. The study involved 327 learners from Grades 7 to 10 of SPNHS and 168 Grade VI pupils from nearby elementary school. Some parents were also invited for collaborative expertise. The findings showed that among the factors affecting enrollment of SPNHS Learners and Grade VI Pupils from nearby elementary schools, both greatly consider the Quality of Education, specifically having good teachers and the school has reputation in terms of academic performance and it provides programs, projects and activities that nurture students’ academic performance, talents, and abilities. In terms of retention factors, the SPNHS Learners consider to stay if the school has a program to support them with academic and other school related problems while Grade VI Pupils consider most their safety and security. With the findings, the study is proposing an intervention program on how to give quality education and support programs for the students that would be the brand of the school to encourage more enrollees.
