Abstract:
This quantitative descriptive-correlational study investigated the relationship between transformational leadership and employee work performance in resort businesses in Lipa City, Batangas. Utilizing a survey questionnaire, the study evaluated perceived levels of transformational leadership dimensions and employee work performance, specifically examining Task, Contextual, and Counterproductive performance. Findings revealed that transformational leadership is consistently practiced at a high level across all its dimensions, with leaders notably serving as strong role models. Similarly, employee work performance was perceived as high across all facets, with a particularly low incidence of undesirable behaviors, indicating a highly effective workforce. Statistical analyses confirmed a highly significant positive relationship (p<.001) between all dimensions of transformational leadership and both Task and Contextual performance. Importantly, transformational leadership also showed a highly significant negative relationship (p<.001) with Counterproductive performance, suggesting that effective leadership helps minimize detrimental workplace actions. The study concludes that transformational leadership is a vital element contributing to superior work performance in the resort sector, strongly advocating for continued investment in and enhancement of these leadership practices.
