Management capability, digital transformation, and financial strategy adjustment: Basis for an integrated competitiveness program for traditional enterprises

Abstract:

This scholarly inquiry sought to ascertain the extent of management capability, digital uptake, and financial strategy of traditional ventures in Guangdong Province, China. The variables considered were management capability, digital transformation, and financial strategy adjustment. The study adopted quantitative descriptive correlational design which involved 400 employees from the selected traditional enterprises operating in Guangdong Province. Segmented unbiased sample selection technique was deployed. The instruments were researchers made which underwent content validation and pilot testing for reliability. Cronbach alpha coefficients for all variables ranged between 0.80 – 0.90. Results showed management capability in terms of strategic decision-making, leadership and human resource management, and resource allocation efficiency was generally agreed by the respondents to be present within the organization. Additionally, digital transformation concerning technology uptake, process digitization, alongside digitally enabled way of lie alongside skills were generally agreed by the respondents to be effective within the organization. Moreover, financial strategy adjustment in terms of capital structure organization, cost management and efficiency, and investment and innovation financing were generally by the respondents to be positive within the organization. Most of the dimensions of management capability, digital transformation and financial strategy adjustment did not show significant relationships. As concluded, textile sector organizations showed acceptable levels of management capability, digital transformation, and financial strategy adjustment, though improvement is still needed. Leadership and HR management, process digitization, and capital structure organization were strongest, while strategic decision-making, technology adoption, and cost efficiency were weakest. Few significant relationships existed among variables, informing the proposed integrated competitiveness program for traditional enterprises. Integrated competitiveness program for traditional enterprises was proposed.
