Abstract:

This study examined the influence of work hours, job security, and workplace support on the job satisfaction of foreign laborers in industrial factories in Eastern Thailand. Specifically, the study assessed work hours in terms of compliance with labor standards, standard working hours, overtime management, and flexibility of work schedules; job security in terms of promotion and career advancement, income stability and appropriateness, and skill development and recognition; and workplace support in terms of work flexibility and leave benefits, organizational clarity and stability, and supervisory and career support. Job satisfaction was evaluated in terms of satisfaction with work conditions, compensation and benefits, and job fulfillment. The study employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design. Data were gathered from 284 foreign laborers employed in industrial factories in Eastern Thailand using a structured survey questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were utilized to determine the levels of work hours, job security, workplace support, and job satisfaction. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation was used to examine the relationships among the variables, while Multiple Regression Analysis was employed to identify the factors that significantly influence job satisfaction. The findings revealed that respondents generally perceived favorable conditions regarding work hours, job security, and workplace support. Likewise, the level of job satisfaction among foreign laborers was found to be favorable. Correlation analysis showed significant relationships among work hours, job security, workplace support, and job satisfaction. Furthermore, regression analysis indicated that the identified workplace factors significantly influenced job satisfaction, with one or more variables emerging as significant predictors. The study concludes that work-related conditions, employment security, and organizational support play critical roles in enhancing the job satisfaction of foreign laborers in Eastern Thailand’s industrial sector. The findings emphasize the importance of ensuring compliance with labor standards, providing stable employment opportunities, supporting employee development, and fostering a supportive work environment to improve worker satisfaction and retention. Based on the findings, a framework was proposed to serve as a guide for industrial organizations in strengthening employee welfare, improving workplace conditions, and promoting higher levels of job satisfaction among foreign laborers.
