Abstract:

This paper intends to identify the strategies for overcoming management challenges facing headteachers in implementing the 2023 innovative curriculum in Tarime District Council, Mara-Tanzania. The study used a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, targeting 1,369 participants and sampling 103 respondents through purposive, random, and convenience techniques. Data were gathered using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, with validity confirmed through expert review and reliability established via a test-retest coefficient of 0.8. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS descriptive statistics, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis, all under strict ethical standards. The study found that headteachers in Tarime District Council use strategies such as regular teacher training, resource provision, promoting collaboration, effective time management, stakeholder engagement, curriculum adaptation, and strong monitoring to overcome management challenges in implementing the 2023 innovated curriculum. These strategies improve teacher confidence, professional growth, and the overall quality of curriculum delivery, though limitations in infrastructure and resources still hinder full effectiveness. In conclusion, structured planning, resource management, teacher empowerment, and collaboration are key to successfully implementing the 2023 innovative curriculum. It is recommended that schools provide continuous, hands-on teacher training and establish peer mentorship programs to support professional development. Additionally, headteachers should secure adequate resources and infrastructure while engaging parents and the community to create a supportive learning environment.
