Abstract:
This systematic review is to analyze the strength of interdisciplinary approaches in revolutionizing development education in higher education institutions. To improve teaching and learning outcomes and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), it examines the strengths and challenges of integrating various disciplines, including political science, economics, sociology, and environmental science. The results demonstrate how interdisciplinary education helps students develop their critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, better equipping them to deal with difficult, real-world global issues like inequality, sustainability, and climate change. Notwithstanding these strengths, several challenges stand in the way of its complete adoption, including as institutional resistance, inflexible curriculum, a shortage of faculty expertise, and technological constraints.
